Zeeny as an Author Other than teaching Zeeny is immensely passionate about writing. She writes poems and stories for children. Her recent writing retreat at Devon, England, encouraged her to give shape to her thoughts more formally.
She has written story books that were showcased at the London Book Fair in April, and the Frankfurt Book Fair in October this year, and will be showcased at other international children’s book fairs like the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in March 2014. In 2011 she wrote a monthly column in a magazine , on creative activities that can be done with kids and ways to inculcate in them a love for reading.
Zeeny as a Teacher Zeeny Jhelumi lives in New Delhi with her family, her dog, 500 children’s books and Snow Globes from around the world. She works with children at her learning centre called The Storytellers. Her workshops on creative writing, life skills , general knowledge, and awareness stir young minds to learn better.
She trained under the Trinity Guildhall school of Music and Drama, London. Always been fond of poetry, recitation, reading , writing and discovering since school where she represented her school in various activities like debates, declamations, dances and drama and won several awards. She was also the sub-editor of her school magazine and received the Best Editor’s award for the same. Zeeny has followed her heart in persuing her dream of creating a way of education that will make learning fun. A child should not lose out on the marvels of childhood and her endeavor is to build happy kids .
She believes that a lot is possible through stories and that there is more to storytelling, than just telling a story. She began to work towards a way of making learning fun and started using her creativity to fire the imagination of young minds through storytelling. As she says, “Working with children is my passion and I follow it with all my heart.”
